Welcome to the Midland House Church Network

Our goal is to help interested Christians learn more about house church (aka "open church", "organic church", etc.), connect with others, and start doing biblical house church in the Midland area.

News

Recently, while googling for some house church-related information, I came across two separate blogs or articles belittling house church as "two guys meeting at a coffee shop and discussing the spirituality of The Matrix" (movie).

I thought this was funny because I had just been drinking Starbucks with 1 or 2 guys, discussing the spirituality of our matrix...except our matrix is an ongoing effort to discover and record what the Holy Spirit has said about Apostolic Traditions for the church in the New Testament. If critics of house church were serious about learning what does and does not constitute biblical church practice, they would be in for a big surprise.

Our matrix is a work in progress. If you want to see the latest version in PDF format, click on the matrix
image below (we actually call it a "grid").

Miscellaneous

We have benefitted from a book by Steve Atkerson, titled, appropriately enough, "House Church" (sub-title: Simple, Strategic, Scriptural).

If you want a good resource on biblical house church, feel free to order your copy at www.ntrf.org .  Currently the book is not available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.

The Midland Daily News published a very nice article on the Midland House Church Network:

Why not just dive in and start "doing house church"?  We took the advice (see "Finding Organic Church" article) of a house church planting expert here.  Many have attempted to dive right into house church meetings, only to meet with disaster as they discovered a wide divergence of knowledge and expectations. By taking the time to cultivate relationships and develop biblical expectations of house church concepts first, we hope to lay the foundation for successful start-ups of house churches later on.
